The Parks, Bracknell
Background
English Partnerships acquired the former RAF Staff College site at Bracknell from Defence Estates in February 2004 as part of an ongoing strategy to make best use of security permission requiredsurplus property assets by increasing co-operation between public agencies.
Bracknell has been identified as an area with a shortage of affordable homes. English Partnerships has been working closely with Bracknell Forest Borough Council to identify how this site can help meet local housing needs.
With significant input from the private sector, the former Staff College site will provide a major opportunity to create a sustainable development that integrates with the proposed town centre regeneration programme.
Current Status
English Partnerships announced the appointment of George Wimpey as preferred developer in February 2005. Community consultation has been undertaken to ensure local people were given the opportunity to comment on proposals for the site, which currently has planning permission for 730 homes.
The new development has been renamed The Parks and the first show homes opened to the public in March 2007.
