Severalls Hospital, Colchester
The development of the Severalls Hospital site plays an important part in the wider regeneration of Colchester and its strategic location close to the A12 has led to the scheme being seen as a catalyst for further development of the area.
English Partnerships acquired part of the Severalls hospital site in North Colchester as part of the Hospital Sites Programme in 2005. The remainder of the site is owned by North Essex Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
Severalls Hospital opened in 1913 and provided psychiatric treatment until it closed in 1997. The site totals approximately 58 ha of which English Partnerships owns 21 ha.
Site development
The site has outline planning permission for 1,500 homes.
English Partnerships are currently working with North Essex Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust and Colchester Borough Council to bring forward the site for development.
