Freedom of Information Act 2000
The Freedom of Information Act (the Act) became law on 30 November 2000, and is intended to foster a culture of openness in government. The Act establishes a right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities and imposes obligations on public authorities to disclose information, subject to a range of exemptions (for the full list of exemptions, see the Freedom of Information Act).
An important feature of the Act is the requirement for each public authority to produce a publication scheme setting out what information it will publish as a matter of course, how and when it will do so, and whether this information will be available free of charge or on payment. Please visit our Publication Scheme page.
This scheme refers to types or classes of information, grouped into common sections, that English Partnerships publishes for use within our offices and externally. Publication does not refer solely to printed material. Publication has been interpreted as broadly as possible to include items from our website, one-off printed documents, electronic documents, printed books, CD-ROMs and leaflets.
Our scheme is available in English only. Should you require assistance in another language, please contact the Information Access Officer who will be able to investigate the appointment of a suitable translator. English Partnerships is committed to equal opportunities and will provide appropriate assistance to persons who consider themselves to have a disability. Should you require assistance accessing our publication scheme, please contact the Information Access Officer.
English Partnerships Corporate Solicitor is the organisations Data Protection Officer, and has overall responsibility for implementing the Freedom of Information Act. However, maintenance of the publication scheme, along with requests for information, are the responsibility of the Information Access Officer.
Should you have any queries or comments regarding our handling of either the Data Protection Act or the Freedom of Information Act, please contact the Information Access Officer on 01908 353680.
