Camp Hill, Nuneaton

The Camp Hill development in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, will improve the levels of housing on this former National Coal Board (NCB) estate and includes employment support to help address the social economic problems.

The site

The Camp Hill site is a former NCB housing estate comprising mainly of properties built in the 1950s to accommodate local miners which do not now comply with Decent Homes Standards.

Funding

We are providing an advanced acquisitions fund of £3m to accelerate development and maintain the momentum built up by earlier phases of the programme. In addition we are providing funding for project management.

Site development

The regeneration initiative includes training and employment support to create long lasting benefits. This will help to address the socio-economic problems and create a ‘pull factor’ which will see more people living and working in the area, aiding economic stability.

The site development will include:

  • over 800 new properties
  • a new village centre
  • re-development of existing residential properties
  • revised road layouts to improve access

Key dates

  • Barratts selected as preferred developer - winter 2007
  • Submission of planning application - summer 2008
  • Start on site - early 2009
