English Partnerships holds records inherited from its predecessors, the Urban Regeneration Agency (which traded as English Partnerships) and the Commission for the New Towns. It also holds records inherited by these two agencies through their roles as successor bodies to other organisations. Therefore, we hold records of 22 New Towns*, eight Urban Development Corporations**, four Housing Action Trusts***, English Industrial Estates Corporation (later English Estates).
Examples of some enquiries that English Partnerships has been able to assist with are:
Please note that English Partnerships operates an ongoing records review programme in accordance with The National Archives guidance. Therefore records may have been destroyed, particularly if the matter concerned dates from a number of years ago.
Records over 30 years old and of historic interest are deposited in approved archive repositories. Records of national importance are deposited with The National Archives and records of local importance are deposited in local authority record offices. For information regarding records over 30 years old, please contact these repositories in the first instance.

Freedom of Information requests
The Freedom of Information Act details a £450 limit for dealing with requests, after this limit it is discretionary to deal with requests. English Partnerships, role as a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) dictates that it has business considerations, so we shall not be dealing with any requests that cost this much to deal with.
£25 per hour is the rate to be used in calculating the time taken to respond to the request. This is to be taken into account only for the time taken to locate, edit and distribute the information. As the limit is £450 to deal with requests, this allows for a maximum of 18 hours (two-and-a-half days) to deal with a request. Where two or more requests (within 60 days) are from the same person or appear to be from people acting in concert or in pursuance of a campaign, the total costs of dealing with the requests may be taken to mean the cost of replying to all these requests. (N.B. a charge should never be used as a means of withholding information, see the duty to advise and assist.)
Method of payment
Payment can be made by cheque (payable to 'English Partnerships'). Cash will not be accepted if sent by post.
