Regional Development Agencies

(e.g. in Manchester, Liverpool, Guilford, or Birmingham)

Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) promote the prosperity of particular regions. Their responsibilities include:

  • planning funding and co-ordination of building projects
  • infrastructure
  • general regeneration.

They are also involved in marketing their region to potential visitors and businesses across the country as well as business development, skills and employment support.

A placement with an RDA allows you to learn about the motivations of different development partners and how they prepare and implement their regeneration strategies.

“I was amazed by the vast amount of work that the Regional Development Agencies are involved with, from economic development to promoting regional tourism. I was also involved in a major Compulsory Purchase Order process to regenerate part of the city”.
